RAARGWWEWRRGG!!!

That was my Facebook status last night. I was hyped up on so much caffeine from work yesterday I was afraid I had blue-shifted. That’s a quantum physics joke for you all – I felt like everything around me was moving slowly, my words were tumbling out of my mouth, and I was angry at everything and everyone for not doing things right. Dinner and a good night’s sleep helped calm a bit of that.

However, tomorrow is Kick-off Sunday a church. This imposes a whole new set of stress and frustration, aside from the “normal work day” stresses.

We go back to two worship services, at 9am and 10:30am. Everyone is pulling out all the stops, trying to show off the various missions, groups, and events coming up. The praise band that doesn’t exist had a rehearsal last night that we were unaware of, and has JUST asked for seven microphones for tomorrow. We have 6 wireless that they have used in the past. The final mic must be either a hard-wired hand mic or a wireless headset mic.

The usual craziness involved in setting up for a “contemporary” service in under 30 minutes following a traditional service will be compounded by that, as well as an unbalanced, untested, and unknown configuration of singers, mics, and instruments, and as of this moment, no operator for either the sound board or the projection system. Worst case scenario is Frank and I running them, and no worrying about the webcast, which requires at least 1, nominally 4 people to run.

Over the summer not knowing who was available wasn’t too bad an issue, but now we have the concern of our small pool of qualified operators can possibly attend either worship service. So we might have 7 operators the first service and 0 the second.
